week 3, runs 2 & 3

We went running on Saturday and yesterday. The Saturday run was quite difficult, I thought I was going to die after 2 minutes of running, but prevailed, survived and came out at the other end. It did make me feel unfit to run, though and I wasn’t too happy with how the exercise is going. I found it quite intimidating, and having read into what to do on week 4, I was even a bit scared. If I am huffing and puffing after 2 1/2 minutes, how am I meant to run for 5?
On yesterday’s run though, I was less focussed on how horrific running is, but had a chat with my bf about other stuff, which made the time go by faster. I felt great afterwards and it was a success. Still, I’d like to repeat this exercise at least once more before raising the bar.

Comments:

Absnasm is mostly elsewhere.

Don't worry.

I always found that if you run through the huff and puff, you come through the other side and can run a lot longer than you thought you could. It’s a bit like breaking the pain barrier. Obviously, though, if it hurts, stop.

THanks for the heads up.

Seriously, I thought I was going to DIE.
Not of pain, but I was so exhausted. I kept staring at the seconds which seemed to stretch, all of a sudden, 7 seconds seemed like an eternity! But as I said, yesterday’s run was a whole lot better. Just the shower afterwards was almost lethal. I blew the fuse on our boiler by turning the dial on our washing machine a notch further to the next program.
So with the boiler broken, we had to take ice cold showers. The repair man will come tomorrow, so one more day without central heating and cold water…

calypte ready for something new :)

interesting

I vaguely remember the ‘second wind’ theory, but I took rather a long time to get to the stage where I could push that far!

some days

are a lot easier than others. yesterday’s 30 minutes went by in a flash, other times they’ve gone on for ages. i usually moved onto the next step when i was getting bored of the one i was on—it’s such a boost when you realise you can do the next level after all. actually, i think i always found the second run hardest; i’d done it once and now had to prove that it wasn’t a fluke. it was psychologically more demanding, i think.
