read a D H Lawrence novel
What am I? This does not imply I'm smart. 4 years ago

The actual reading of the story was not fun; because the words did not describe the image of the people. I was uninterested. Not a great goal.

I must tell you

that I am a bit miffed by your post, biblelover.

“This does not imply I’m smart”??? Are you accusing me of ‘putting on airs’?

I enjoy DH Lawrence novels because
1) they’ve been banned for their “erotic” content – pretty tame by 21st century standards
2) the long discussions of the pitfalls of nationalism in a pre-World War II context are kind of interesting, since it seems to be a major point of contention between progressive-left “European” style politics and the flag-waving “Reagan” Republicans.
3) it’s just nice to take a break from raising babies and studying SQL and read a novel now and then.

Sons and Lovers

was actually really good. It took me a little while to get into it, but then I carried it around everywhere and yelled at the characters when they were being stupid.. I found it much easier going then Wuthering Heights or anything else in that vein I’ve read.

Which one gave you so much trouble?

What did I do?

I simply was speaking about my self not being smart. Was that bad?
... I know not which book it was. Sorry.

then I misunderstood

your post.

no hard feelings.

Women In Love

I am reading it now and I love it. It is plot-less so that makes it harder to pick it up for the next reading session, but philosophically it is so interesting. All those unanswered questions about love and existence and what is it one truly wants and needs, you know, the sort, are explored in an easy to follow manner, through the 4 characters. I think it is a book that‘s offering plenty of questions and statements to meditate on. I am half way through it and every time I put it down, it leaves me with a smile of enlightenment on my face. I highly recommend it!

Which

Which book of the author was it what was the title

I was talking about D H Lawrence’s ‘Women in love’ :). I’ve heard this is different from all his other novels but I haven’t read the rest so can’t tell…
