learn to mountain bike
random.. 4 years ago

i dont know why this appeals to me so much. maybe bc i love nature so much. i think it’d be so fun. i have even been on a bike in years but i would love to take up mountain biking. i think it’d be a great way to get into and stay in shape.. unfortunately our loooong winter is coming up soon so i wont be able to test those waters soon.

maybe over the winter i can try to get my fitness level up and be ready for it by next summer.

MB mountain biking...

I learned to mountain bike on the prairies (oxymoronically?)—there’s lots of good riding near Winnipeg. Some of my favourite areas were near Walhalla (close to Frostfire), Ski Birch (past Carmen) and in the Whiteshell (especially the Ingolf Loop). Check out any of the trails that look interesting on this list for a taste.

For learning, I seem to remember that any of the little side trails off the main paths in Assinaboine Park can be fun and easy. Good enough to get in the swing of riding on dirt between the trees. Beaudry Park is also very pretty and good for beginners. Good luck!
