Create a budget, and stick with it (read all 15 entries…)

Worth doing!

Finally...  — 6 months ago

I’ve kind-of caught up from the past few months’ financial crisis and can have a budget again that meets all my needs (unless something else happens!). I worked on it last night for about an hour…and I’m very happy that my new paycheck I will get today will be very wisely spent and saved.

Congratulations!

I have a new budget for the new year, too, but when I entered my first paycheck I discovered some kinks I still need to work out (some of my deductions have changed).

Also I have started several funds to save up for things I tend to repeatedly go overbudget on because I feel like I absolutely need them right now, like clothes and gifts. (I didn’t have much in my budget for those things, because months and months go by without me buying anything, but then something comes up and there goes $100!) I also started a fund for travel and a fund for my new bed, both tiny but growing. I am doing this through Quicken’s savings goal feature, so the money is all still in my checking account, but Quicken shows it in a different place and my checking balance reduced accordingly.
