In short, I have been wanting to play the violin for a while now (right around 13 years). Mind you that is only the time I spent wanting to play. So this year, Christmas rolls around and my sweet boyfriend finally lit the fire under my buns to get started. He rented me a violin and got me some lessons. So, I am 3 lessons in and really into it. Despite the fact that the first week I spent plucking strings and working on my finger placement of the A and E strings. I got to that second week and got some bow action. Very exciting to say the least. However, the most exciting moment was when I played “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” with my bow. Honestly, I am 26 and it still made me feel good. I put on a mini concert for my family. It consisted solely of “Twinkle Twinkle”. They were impressed and I was pumped. I am definitely going to stick with it. Who knows what the next masterpiece I will be playing next…perhaps some itsy bitsy spider or three blind mice. And as a special note, I had extreme respect for all violin players but now having had some lessons and knowing all of the pieces and skills that go into playing the instrument, the level of respect and awe has risen manyfold.
