Time to expand the skills set. 23 months ago

There’s more to knitting than just scarves and blankets, or so I’ve heard. But I like knitting two-color patterns! Yeah, yeah… Let’s start adding some dimension…

  1. a pair or two of funky socks
  2. ski caps for my kids & hubby
  3. a doggie sweater for Sir Barksalot
  4. multi-purpose drawstring sacks
  5. mutant sock monkey type critters for my kids

Wish me luck on attempting knitting in the round. I’m going to need it. ;oD

knitting in the round is so easy.
if you are using circular needles, keep your gauge a little looser than you normally would because the cord is so much smaller and the stiches will be tight.
Sometimes its easier when using double pointed needles its easier to cast your stitches onto a long needle and then knit them onto the double pointed needles. The problem with this is that you will have to actually sew the first and last stitch in the round together.

IF you havent seen it yet you should check out knitty.com. Its one of the coolest knitting sites out there. There is a sock monkey hat pattern on the sire for free.

Good luck!

Yarn

I’m in Brevard county and I’m a hand spinner. If you ever feel you want some handspun yarn to play with, drop me a line! I don’t knit, so love to see it actually used in projects.

Thank you!

Your offer is very kind. But I haven’t lived in FL for nearly 2.5 years. There are plenty of active Freecycle groups along the Spacecoast, though. Perhaps you might consider joining one near you and posting an offer? Thanks again.
