raise $20,000 in one month for my mother's cancer treatment (read all 2 entries…)
My mother and cancer.

I want to raise $20,000 in 1 month for my mother’s chemotherapy.

It may sound impossible or unattainable, but for my case it is what we need right now. And with the kindest hearts, I feel strongly that I can do this.

Just roughly 4 months ago, my mother was diagnosed with cancer of the nasopharynx. The cancer cells are so near the brain that it is very dangerous if left unattended. So my mother had to undergo 30 sessions of radiation therapy and 6 sessions of chemotherapy. So far she’s finished all the sessions of radiation therapy and 3 sessions of chemotherapy. But it shocked me when I found out that we are running out of funds to foster my mother’s remaining treatment. My father is about to lose his job (as I’ve recently found out as well), my brother is going to take up nursing in college, and I still have 1 more year before finishing my chemistry program.

So now I am trying to ask the help of the cosmos, the divine, and everyone with the kindest hearts to obtain this goal.

This is a leap of faith for me. I may or may not get to my goal.. but I am praying that I will. Mama was admitted in the hospital yesterday and we are not certain where to get money to pay for her chemotherapy. I am banking on my faith in God and my faith in people. Hope my faith is strong enough. ^^

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. Though I have no idea where these bowl-a-thons and walks are in my country—Philippines. >_> Or if they aactually exist here.

Anyway, I am currently writing a forward e-mail to be sent to friends and hopefully they’ll send to other people.

Thanks for the concern. :)

I am very sorry to hear about your mother and her cancer...

My mom just went a bout of radiation and chemo therapy herself this summer. If you want to raise the money to pay for her chemo-therapy I would try and contact these organizations. Their sole mission, if you read some of thier “mission statements” is to provide care of people with cancer (and some without financial support all over the world who really need it.) I am sure they have affiliates in the Phillipines as they accept donations in countries all over the wordl. Email them or send letters or even call there toll free telphone numbers and see if you can get into reseach projects and receive free chemo therapy or financial aid to help your mother. As BrownEyedGirl mentioned, newspapers campaigns, radio stations, tv news shows, anywhere you can get the attention of people to help raise funds or even help organize your own “walk for your won mom’s cancer.” You have already paid some of this yourself, you should not have to finance the rest when there are funds available for these organizations or help available. People are very generous when asked in a kind and caring manner. Good luck.
