It might be different for a person who’s lived with deafness his whole life, but it’s hard for me to imagine many things more isolating than being unable to communicate verbally. Language and grammar fascinate me, and I’m good at reading and writing foriegn languages, but I’ve always had trouble speaking them. I figure ASL would be a perfect language for me to know. I keep wanting to take it at school, but the class is never offered at a convenient time.
