It’s quite a nice space with built-ins that my father and I made when he , M and I remodeled my 101 year old home. The room is filthy, it was a storage room and the room for the cat boxes. Cleaning this room, with it’s many allergens, caused me to develop bronchitis over the past week, which has sucked!!

intothebreach Did not fall off the face of the earth, but came close

But, hey....

Hi, it looks great. The built-ins look cool.

My first attempt

at drywall. I have alot to learn but practice makes perfect.

wren is mightier than grief.

Wow!

That looks awesome!

bp

a bit cleaner tonight

Wonderful room!!

I have a studio, but it languishes. I don’t like being in it much and end up at a table in our home library. I need to reorganize it maybe. The walls are light purple, which I love.

bp

Thanks Sally.

Wow, thinking about a paint color has not been easy, and a lavender shade does sound nice. Those built-ins will be bright white and then the rest of the room…not sure :(

I have

lavender with white highlights. White trim on the windows and sheer white curtains over white mini-blinds (it gets a LOT of sun in the afternoons.)

I also have things from my writing life in there, art work from my stay at a writer’s retreat, a photo of an author/friend, a 3-D topo map of California (my first novel’s main character is a geologist) etc. Also a small shrine of river rocks, alder cones and little things my writer friends have given me over the years…Italian glass bird, silver acorn, silver tadpole.

bp

Ooooh....

your collection sounds wonderful!Having a shrine in your studio is the best idea, why not keep in a special place the objects that inspire us? Great idea, maybe take a pic of the area if you can.

Looks like you’re doing a great job. I’m going to have to learn some dry wall too. I am building a closet at the top of my cellar stairs that is all plaster right now.

bp

Thanks!

I learned how to do drywall on a Habitat for Humanity project ages ago.You get a whole day of hands on training for free. It was fun and I screwed up alot.
Well, before, this was just an oddly sloped roof coming down to the floor. You couldn’t walk over there so the built-ins were the only answer. But as you see, there are cracks and a few uneven spots.I do need more experience.

Great idea

I’ve repaired a lot of drywall, but I never installed any so maybe I should try habitat for humanity. It would be nice to help some people out too.

bp

You should do it.

It’s so weird, because it is a fun time and you do ALOT of work but you feel like you are getting the “gift” because you learn so much. I have worked on 3. I did framing, drywall, and I rolled out asphalt roofing and tacked it in all day.

It is a great idea. I could probably learn a lot that way.

Is this a room in the home you are in now? I love this green!

I was thinking sage green

some sort of greyish green. I love the dark trim inside the window, this is a great palette.

Cool

What a neat room. I can’t wait to see what you do with it!

bp

Thanks! I hope to be finished by next weekend!
