Finally
I bought my first flute yesterday! Woot! Now I’m having problems making sounds and holding it properly :P Sighs .. Oh well .. at least I made that first step of owning a flute :D
...just take that piece ONLY out of the case, hold the end in your right hand, and blow across the tone hole. You may find you need to roll the lip plate back and forth a bit to make sure your air stream is crossing the hole at the right angle—you’ll know when you’ve found it because the tone you’re making will be fuller and louder.
Making sound on the flute is not so much about blowing HARD, but rather aiming a precise stream of air across the tone hole at the proper angle.
Once you can make a proper sound on the headjoint, then you can put the whole flute together (make sure it’s aligned correctly) and try holding it.
You’re taking lessons, right?
