find the right sneakers for my aching feet (read all 5 entries…)
I'm not sure that I've done this to the quality it needs to be done 22 months ago

but I do have a new pair of sneakers. I’ll give them a chance to get broken in, and then see how my feet feel before I give them their final grade.

I took the back the shoes I had ordered on line (to the local store) and tried on some that they had in stock. They were buy one pair/get one pair half price, so I found two pairs that seemed like they might fit and brought them home. (I was too tired and my feet were hurting too bad to really tell.) When I tried them on at home the next day, one pair was too long and one pair was too tight. So…I went back to the store to return the one pair and get the second pair in a half size smaller. What a mess – this is why I HATE shopping for shoes.

One good thing about it, in all the exchange, I ended up only paying $10 for my new pair. I tried to tell the sales person, more than once, that it wasn’t right, but she had been messing with the return for at least 15 minutes, and didn’t feel inclined to make the register change it’s mind – so who was I to argue. I took my shoes and came home!

I ended up getting the same kind as I had before – New Balance. I tried some other brands but they just didn’t fit well at all. I’ll keep on the lookout when I’m somewhere (Topeka or KC) that might have a better selection.

I thought that I was the only woman...

on Earth that hates shopping for shoes! My feet hurt no matter what type of shoe I purchase, aside for gym shoes since they tend to accommodate wider feet.

At least you got the discount, gotta give it to lazy cashiers!

Nope - I'm with you on the shoe shopping!

I’ve always been tough to fit, even when I was a kid, so my parents dreaded taking me shoe shopping. It was pretty sad today when I put on my shoes to walk to the post office and my feet hurt before I was out the door. :-(

I can’t blame the sales lady, really – she had been working and working to try and get the refund to ring up at all. Besides the fact that first it rang up too much, then not enough, when she went to apply it back to my gift card, it wouldn’t actually add any money. Who knows what the problem was, but I got a $60 pair of shoes for $10, so I’m not complaining.

Have you tried wearing shoes with velcro straps?

Well, these are actually gym shoes (which you say fit without hurting.) But anyway, I always choose velcro shoes because I find them more comfortable, and I do a lot of walking.

My experience

with New Balance is that they are really comfortable. If you’ve had a pair before and found they work well for you, it makes sense to get them again.

i have new balances...

and actually tried on about 4 different pairs and went on the comfort factor. they rock!!

I just got

some new New Balances too! At the moment my feet hurt in just about anything (I’m starting to think I need new feet!) but these feel pretty nice and the best thing is they have a bright turquoise go-faster-stripe down the sides!!

Flirt is wearing her very warm purple (wild)cat socks today - THANKS MamaKitty! has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
