Articles always seem to be giving gaim shit about its UI.

Very rarely does anyone actually point out a specific problem they can put their finger on, it’s always just “Bad UI /grumble mutter/”.

I don’t think there’s too much actually wrong with the gaim UI; personally. There’s a few menu options in all the wrong places, but that’s about it.

Don’t think I’m right? Got specific problems. Stuff that makes gaim unusable for you? Tell me about it and make me eat my words.

After playing with Skype and some other VOIP options I realised they all suck – (especially considering Skype just got bought for a few billion).
Gaim needs to support talking with fellow MSN users or Google talk people.

As for your mention about the UI stuff, I never used to like it, but now it doesn’t bother me. I’m not sure what I would change….

Trying to find where to change the MSN avatar, I’ve always just skipped over it… But that’s all I’ve ever noticed.

It’s in your account settings. Like when you go to Accounts>>Add/Edit then edit your msn account. There will be a little section to add an avatar.

More people find gaim 2.0’s UI to be much more ergonomic than before. It’s a change, so it takes some time to get used to no matter what. But yes, it is better now that I’ve gotten used to it.
