Recruit and encourage others to save money from each pay check to provide for recurring expenses such as Christmas, Insurance, Retirement ETC.

thanks, Chris, for the invite.
This goal is specially difficult if your income varies like mine, but maybe even more necessary in this case. Anyway, I managed to save about 15% of my (very small) scholarship in 2007 and it’s helping me a lot now. Maybe I’ll get a “normal” job this year…

Anyway, a couple of years back I was writing a list of exactly this kind of expenses. It went something like this:
  • taxes
  • insurance, according to your needs
  • retirement
  • dentists for everyone
  • car maintenance, if you have one
  • appliance maintenance (I’m the kind of persons who prefers to repair something if it’s just a fraction…)
  • back to school stuff, when needed
  • Christmas gifts (in moderation)
  • birthday gift for my son
  • birthday gifts for the parties my son will be invited to (again, in moderation)
  • any other kind of celebration (anniversaries,...) or holiday
  • Vacation if possible

I know there is too much “fun stuff” on this list, but that’s exactly the kind of stuff I tend to forget. Anyone wants to share?

welcome

Welcome and your list is an excellent way to plan for these expenses. Planning goes a long ways to getting ride of debt… that is if you follow the plan.

Thanks for joinign and heres to some great ideas for our finances in the future!
