catherineaq welcomes 2010!

get back to my prepregnancy weight, since my son was born in 2000, so I've clearly been carrying these extra pounds for far too long (read all 53 entries…)
sickness=weight loss! 23 months ago

I lost several pounds in a single week! Being sick will do that for you, I guess. Usually it doesn’t help me, even when it’s a stomach-based illness, which this one wasn’t. But I guess when it goes on and on you almost can’t help it.

More significantly, I think my stomach has shrunk and even when I’ve been feeling better over the last day or so, I’ve been satisfied with less. I’m going to try really hard to hang on to that so I can hang onto the new numbers on the scale!

shrinking stomachs

absolutely. I managed to get down several stubborn pounds when my appetite was dramatically reduced. Now it’s back to normal and it’s hard to get the darn scale to budge down those last few lbs I imagine are the final ones I could possibly want to lose…

Hope you’re feeling better at the end of the weekend.

I am

and that’s not the denial I was in for the first 2 days I was sick, just going on with my life as if I weren’t feverish. And not the, “I’m fine! I’m fine!” thing I was doing as soon as I had periods of a day with no fever. I’m actually better now, except for a lingering cough and congestion (both mild now).

I think we all had flu (despite having had flu shots). Our local NPR station did a story about MA being hard hit with it this year, and said “Even those who had flu shots are vulnerable.” In other words, it’s a strain they didn’t predict. So then I went to the CDC website and we had every single symptom, including the extended nature of it.

I whined a lot . . . but really, I felt lucky. We had nothing major going on that we had to miss, S wasn’t away at a conference, we didn’t have a snowstorm to try to clear while ill, etc., etc. It could have been a nightmare in so many ways that it wasn’t.

I’m finished babbling now.

mild colds

Right before leaving for FL we got a really mild cold- but Q is still coughing, and now is acting totally like a sickly kid, low fever several nights, lots of meltdowns, falling asleep 2 minutes after his head hits the pillow… and Noodle is now coughing.

But I’m crossing my fingers that my lip smacking husband, who now feels cruddy, did not pick up the absolutely vile puking bug that his lip smacking partner was crushed by today. We get that, and it’s all over.

I’m glad you guys are on the upswing!

I think we may have our entire household in bed before 8.

There's a reason that the next major

“to do” holiday isn’t until Spring. Everyone I know is ILL.

Glad you’re doing better now that you’ve given your body a rest.
