to help me stay on track for using my extra job money (mine was odd jobs – petsitting, mainly) toward my sub-goal of paying off my credit card. And it worked well. I found that at another point when I had a regular part-time extra job I spent MORE money because I had less time to eat good food, etc., relax, and felt entitled to all kinds of “treats” I wouldn’t have otherwise felt the need to have.
