I lived on a sailboat for years, though I never took it out alone. I never really felt like I knew much beyond the basics, and I had enough near death experiences far out at sea to swear off the thing. But now that I’ve moved off of it, I’ve fallen in love with the sea again… sometimes you have to get some distance. I’ve been going out on weekends, sailing out, mooring, and sailing back. I want to sail to the Caribbean this summer and Europe next year. I LOVE it, and now that it’s me at the tiller, myself pulling sail, all alone out at sea… god, there’s nothing better. it’s beautiful.
