I find it hard believing anything I’ve heard so far…

I went to church all my life but I’ve never really seen anything that makes me believe there is a god. But I don’t know. I’m still trying to figure that out.
Maybe you need to do more than just wait
I do believe there is a God, but it’s been a long process for me. God speaks to us through prophets, they write it down, and though that format (scripture) we can know what to do to prove to ourselves that the word is from God.
Here’s one example of how to test that scripture came from God:
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Notice that you have a lot of things to do; read, remember, ponder, receive, ask . . . and all this with a sincere heart, and real intent. The promise is then that the truth will be manifest to us.
If you really want to know, why not pick up scripture (I’ll send you a copy of any book of scripture you want) and then follow the process. If you don’t, you can’t really expect to know I think. That’s how I found out.
Not good enough
Yea…I used to read the Bible and everything quite a bit. But there isn’t anything in there that makes me believe in a god. I see the Bible as what it is…a book. It might be real but I see it as just a story. My belief in god is pretty well shot. I’m just trying to see if there is anything out there that makes more sense or seems real to me.

I went down the same road...
until I realised that atheism is for me. I simply don’t believe in a god. Any of the gods on the lists that exist, polytheistic, or monotheistic. Nada.
I’ve read “The God Delusion” by Richard Dawkins and never looked back, since. I do not need religion to have a good set of morals, be an agreeable person and I am much happier now that I have lifted the weight of sin-guilt off my shoulders.
I am simply responsible for the kind of person I am, the decisions I make and the steps I take. There is no sin. There is no hell. There is no afterlife. I live here, now. With joy and verve. Try it. Or just read a chapter of the afore-mentioned book.
