get rid of all my clutter (read all 28 entries…)
It is amazing what a difference 15 minutes 22 months ago

a day can make. I have been trying to do this most days and I already have my bedroom decluttered, I am working through my craft area and my spare room and I can actually see the progress. It is keeping me going!

That's wonderful. I'm so glad you are...

making progress and keeping at it. I haven’t been very successful at this, but you are inspiring me. Thanks so much for sending this. Please keep letting us know how you are doing. I really treasure this team. I have made progress since I’ve joined. I’m just a little off track now, but entries like yours, Crazyinagoodway, Cia007, and others entries get me moving in the right direction again.

I still have days where I get off track or don’t do anything at all but I am trying to make it part of my daily routine to do a little decluttering every day. Just that 15 minutes really is starting to make a difference. I’m sure you will soon see progress, just keep going a little at a time!

When you say 15 minutes

do you mean 15 minutes in all? Or do you mean 15 minutes PLUS the time you take to tidy up the stuff that has recently accumulated.

The 15 minutes never works for me, because it tends to become time taken away from tidying “new mess” and so the total amount of clutter pretty much stays the same.

Maybe I just need to find another 15 minutes somewhere.

That is a good question, but I find...

that if I just get started on something, I will keep going. For me, doing something is always better than doing nothing. Too many times, I just sit around and lament about it instead of doing SOMETHING.

15 minutes is just time to declutter

I have got a basic routine of things to do daily, which helps stop stuff building up. I find that when I do my routine then alot of the time I really don’t have to do that much, because it is under control, but when I let it lapse for a few days then it builds up very quickly. I learnt about the Magic Minimums at the Organised Home website. There used to be message boards there where we would post our routines and encourage each other to get things done, but the message boards have migrated in sections to different places. The cleaning one is at http://www.getphpbb.com/phpbb/index.php?mforum=cleansweepers I just started off adding one thing at a time until I did it everyday without much thought. Now I use the board to motivate me on days when I really don’t feel like doing much, once I start adding the smiley faces I get most of the list done in a short amount of time. You are more than welcome to join us there if you think it would help. I post in the monthly minimums forum. The articles about housecleaning and decluttering are still on the organised home website if you would like to check them out too. http://organizedhome.com/

Organized Home

I love that site…that’s where I got the initial idea for my Household Notebook. The Organized Home Christmas Countdown saves me every year!

One thing good I did take back from flylady.com was the saying “you can do anything in 15 minutes.”

The challenge I have is frequency, discipline, and my love for being spontaneous need to be balanced. Still need to get over there to the site to post! :-)

Keep going newsurfiegirl.

You can do it ;-)

Thanks for the links

I’ll check them out. I don’t want this to come across all woe begotten, but I just have no idea where to find another 15 minutes. Right now I come home from work and go straight into doing the things that have to be done and I don’t stop until bed time. I include time with the kids as things that have to be done and I’m not willing to cut back there.

Maybe I just need a bulldozer :)
