redecorate & update my condo (read all 10 entries…)
painting

I took off two days to paint my bedroom and I’m nowhere near finished!

Friday I decided to go shopping first. I was at World Market forever. They are closing most of their Michigan stores and everything was 10% to 30% off. I went crazy and bought a ton of good stuff for the condo (art, candles & holders, chair cushions, etc). Then I made the mistake of going to the mall and was there for way too long and spent too much money at NY&Co. When I finally got home at 1:30pm I got to work on the bedroom. I washed the walls, got the wallpaper border paste off. Had to let that dry so I didn’t do anything else.

Saturday I had to put primer on the dark pink that was on the bottom (less than) half of the walls. It took me about 6 hours (see photo). I also put one coat of brown on the bedroom door. The previous owner painted the three doors in the bedroom white…but just white on the side facing in to the bedroom. Oh, and they also painted the hinges white so I had to buy new ones.

Sunday I had to run to Home Depot to buy more painting supplies. Then I painted one big wall blue…it took me 5 hours. After that I had to get ready to go to the Foo Fighters concert.

Monday I was exhausted! I managed to put two coats of brown on all three doors though…and I did laundry!

So I still have three more walls to paint blue and I want to put a brown stripe on each wall. UGHHH! It’s going to take me forever!

Comments:

worth it

I know these projects always take WAY longer than we think they’re going to, but still, in the end, taking the time to do a quality job makes it all worth it in the end.

We took an embarrassing seven months to renovate our bathroom, and as maddeningly uncomfortable as that inconvenience made our lives, now that it’s done – and done PERFECTLY – I think back on that chaos fondly and with a smile, like it was fun or something.

You’re gonna love it, and it’s going to be SO worth the effort!! Go you!
