take a road trip to Canada (read all 2 entries…)
Keep trying

This past spring a friend mentioned such a trip to me and I now I just can’t get over the idea. It is right around a 20 hour trip driving straigt there from Dallas so it would only take a three day weekend of full out driving and it would be done. Although, a couple of my friends and I took a road trip this summer to San Antonio and since that trip I think I have lost many of my perspective travel companions. But I am still determined to make it happen one of these days.

Winnipeg

Well i have looked it up on mapquest.com and have found that it is only 20 hours to go straight up to Winnipeg,MA – my goal is mainly to get there and see it so that i can say that i have seen at least one part of Canada = although i would also love to see the norhtern lights – but i assume i will have to go much more north for that and that will take much more time. The plan is only to take three – four days. that is driving there and coming back. What part of Canada do you live in? What is your favorite part of Canada?

not much to see in winnipeg!

if it’s going to be your first visit to canada, i would suggest starting anywhere but winnipeg! haha! i am from saskatoon (which is about an eight hour drive west of winnipeg) but i have lived all over western canada. i have yet to visit eastern canada, but i love every part i’ve been to for very different reasons.

what things were you hoping to do/see while you are in canada?

as far as northern lights go, you don’t have to go that far – we get them here all the time and we’re only a few hours north of the american border! it depends on the time of year, though – they happen mostly in the winter.

lol i guess my plans need to change

See this is why i love 43 things – there are people like you to help me - not really sure what i want to do when i get to canada lol never really thought about it – just wanted to get there :)—i have always wanted to see snow and the northern lights -but both of those happen in the winter -which is not a good time to drive – especially cuz i have no clue how to drive in snow :/ - what is there to do where you are? or somewhere near to the border? teehee – btw i wanted to ask you – is your name from the christian rock group? cuz i LOVE them - props to you if so :)

yeah, there’s lots to do in saskatoon – but it’s a much prettier place in the summer than in the winter. and yeah, i would not recommend winter driving if you are inexperienced in that area!!

also, i wanted to mention, if you want to come to canada just for the sake of coming, then i guess it doesn’t really matter where you go, just as long as you can say you’ve been here, right?! :)

and actually i got this nickname before that group came out – i took it from the Superchic[k] song of the same name. it’s a good song. check it out :)

Sounds like a fun goal

Wow, I’ve heard of road trips, but that would be one HUGE one! Sounds like fun, too! I wonder how much trouble it is to get across the border? Anyway, good luck!

Believe it or not, it is MUCH easier to get into the US than into Canada, and I’m a Canadian citizen!!
