Fundraise for life2orphans (read all 5 entries…)
Earlier this year I became the project coordinator for an orphange for the disabled... 21 months ago

...in Torez, Ukraine.

Our current project is to find a “food sponsor” for each of the 47 bedridden children * There are 47 bedridden children at Torez laying in bed as you read this.

  • These children suffer from a wide range of conditions: Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Arthrygryposis, Spina Bifida, and so on.
  • The children have a range of physical and mental capabilities.
  • What they all share is a common fate of institutionalization, with 525,960 minutes to spend a year in bed doing nothing.
  • They are in desperate need of food. Children that do not get enough calories weaken over time and simply wither away.

OBJECTIVE:

  • Get these bedridden children mobile and using the physical therapy room.
  • Increase their strength and basic health with a higher calorie diet.
  • Provide every child a chance to live their life with some basic dignity.

SOLUTION:

  • High calorie food program (in conjunction with physical therapy)
  • Each sponsor will be matched with a child and we ask that the family commit to sponsoring their child for at least a year.
  • You can save a child’s life.

Please consider sponsoring a child for $30 a month.(You can also sponsor a child jointly).

If you are interested in sponsoring a child http://www.life2orphans.org/help_online_donations.htm or contact Stacie at babcockslm@comcast.net for more information.

NOTES:

  • Consider that if you eat 3,500 calories more than your body needs, you will put on about 1 pound.
  • If an orphan receives an extra 3,500 calories a month, they will gain 12 extra pounds over the year

If you want more information you can also contact me (Renia) through my 43 things page and I can chat to you about it and also provide you with much more information.

If you don’t want to send money you can also sign up for a “box and letters” sponsorship where you would send things to your sponsored child twice a year.
