I always love the St. Patrick’s celebrations – yesterday was the annual parade and today I made the corned beef meal, shamrock cutout cookies, and we watched one of my very favorite movies – Waking Ned Devine (about the Irish lottery). Seeing the beautiful scenery in the movie makes me want to visit Ireland, so I’ve added it to 43 Places. A girl can dream, can’t she? :)
I went there for 4 days when I was stationed in England. I flew into Shannon (where the Concorde used to refuel when it crossed the Atlantic) and I went to Limerick (great pubs) and then to Cork. Blarney Castle wasn’t too far from Cork. When I was waiting to kiss the Blarney Stone I was chatting with an Aussie who said he hoped he wouldn’t catch bloody aids because of how many people who’ve kissed it. :)
