squish a penny under a train
Done that, doing that... 21 months ago

Ever since I was a kid I wanted to do this, but
did not get around to actually doing it until a
few years ago.

Having recently taken full time employment, I
find myself driving relatively close to tracks
twice a day. I have since developed what I feel
is a slight obsession with the act, leaving up
to ten minutes early for work just so I can stroll
up and down the tracks to find pennies placed the
afternoon before.

Tips and tricks. Don’t bother with pennies from
1982 to present. While you may find good pennies in
the 82 mix, I just stick with anything 1981 and prior.
Much better quality considering the older pennies are
mostly copper and today’s are mainly zinc.

Or for comparison’s sake, place some of each. After
you find them, drop them from about six to eight inches
onto a kitchen countertop. The cheap junky sounding coins
are current, those which ring and ping when dropped are
the higher copper content.

Have fun. But be safe. Always be safe. Never race a train.
