now I sleep in ready for bed

Create my family tree (read all 2 entries…)

A spontanous start  — 3 months ago

prompted by an invitation on Facebook. Its a pretty basic format, and there are some limits in getting the application to mend to my complicated family structure, but it a good jumping off point. Made me realize how much I do and don’t know. I emailed a few questions to my parents and really look forward to interviewing my grandparents.

The best feature is its ability to link to others via Facebook and allow them to add and connect. Christian’s cousin is the one who sent it to me and I am hoping she will get into adding to her side of the family. There is so much family in South Africa that we have never met and know little about.

The worst feature is that it doesn’t allow you see it all at once. You have to follow each name and it becomes a bit of a maze of links. I want a printable version I can hang on the wall and see the whole form and structure at once.

I think I am ready to expand the project and will spend a day at the library researching other formats.

made me remember how frustrating it was having to fill something like this out in elementary school. How many families can really fit into this symmetrical bubble anyhow?

maybe it helps
