go to Catalina Island for my family reunion (read all 5 entries…)

I have to go!  — 1 month ago

what a dream come true. i still worry what the school will say… we will miss the first 2 days( half days)
and the fee day( where you pay for everything…
I will have to ask a friend to help me with fee day… go and fill out my kids forms… or see if i can do it early.
I think it can be done…
How can I miss this wonderful chance for a week with my siblings , their kids and my kids?
It would be really dumb to miss this wouldnt it?
I spend all this time working and living in IL , here is a chance to go to my favorite place in the world!
O JUST TOOK OUT MY BIKINI AND SANDALS AND SUNDRESS… WHAT MORE DO I NEED FOR THIS INSPIRATION!
ALL I NEED NOW IS A MASK , SNORKEL, SOME SUNSCREEN AND A TOWEL. SIGH!
AND ONE MORE THING… WHY DOES THE SCHOOL HAVE TO START BACK SO FREAKING EARLY AUG 18 IS THE PUBLIC SCHOOL START DATE. MY KIDS GO BACK AUG 21. MY SISTER SAID TO ME:”WHAT SPOILSPORTS!!!:” i AGREE!

Don't miss it

Family is way more important than school. You should definately go and take lots of pictures to capture the great time spent with family. Send each family a small scrapbook of the pics so everyone can remember those special times.
You never know when God will take you or a family member….don’t miss any opportunity to spend with family.
Your kids will easily be able to make up the few missed days of school. But they might never forget the cool time spent with aunts, uncles, cousins, friends. GO!

THANKS, THAT IS SO TRUE. my dad died (age91) this past january and the nieces and nephews all knew each other from those visits we took with my big kids( i have 3 older kids in their 20s,) my lil ones 7 and 8 have been toughing it out with me here.,.. single mom lifestyle… they really will benefit and man, I just love that place. I know it is going to work out ok. thanks!I secretly know I am going to live there someday somehow, california or even catalina island.

I lived in Newport Beach most of my life and every summer would take the boat across to Catalina Island and spend great times there. That was 20 yrs. ago and hopefully it is still the quaint laid back place it was then. I remember snorkeling in the cove where the glass bottom boat gave tours. I’ve hiked up to the highest point on the island and looked across the channel to the mainland. I have many fond memories there, too!
Now I’m in South Florida…the beaches are great but it really is “God’s waiting room”....thankfully, most are heading back up north now!
Have a fun trip and don’t look back!

my sis is going to rent a house a bit earlier for those of us that have school starting, my son starts college the 25th and so… that is a goo plan. we will overlap the rest of the gang.
maybe my kids will miss one day.
i looked at the site, googled catalina island… and it looks great. didnt seem crowded in the pics and looks super green allover from all the rain southern calif has gotten.
cant wait!
yeah we used to go each summer and look fwd to it all yr, even though we too lived by the beach(playa del rey) there is something magical about catalina. someday i want to live there. :-)http://www.catalina.com/main.html
