get my pilot's license
since I was a child 8 months ago

I actually had this goal since I was a little child. But my father said this is much to expensive and I furthermore won’t get a chance because of my glasses. So I forget this goal and some years ago – while watching some Cessnas in the sky – it came back. I got some informations and learnt that glasses are no problem for making a private pilot license and the costs are high but not unrealistic.

Never too late to start!

Go for it – it’s the most awesome thing! It’s hard work in one sence, but if you are having a blast doing it, then can it really be work? Good luck!

There_is_hope is it really nearly October...

Good for you!

I have glasses and had the same thought as a child – horsefeathers! You can have glasses and a private pilot certificate no problem! If this is something you even think you might want to do a little, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. I was hanging out at one of the local airports last month and met a guy who started flying at age 65…age is no factor either.

Good luck!

PS I wear Bifocals!

Since I am near sited in one eye and far sited in the other and am well over 40, I had to get fancier glasses than most people. But I got brown tinted bifocals with the “reading” portion of them “extended out” to about arm’s length. What that means is that on the top part of my bifocals, I can see out far (like for looking down the runway), but I can also see the instruments out the bottom portion. Traditional bifocals keep the reading part at a focal length too close, and I couldn’t read the instruments with them. Of course, this means that I have to hold the charts out about 20 inches from my nose to read them. Maybe I need TRIfocals!
