Read my Bible more (read all 8 entries…)
I had gotten to where I was...

reading daily…but I’m not. And, I think the invitation to this team has come at an opportune time to help get me back there. After really not getting very far in my “read the entire Bible” goal in the past few months, I’ve begun to focus more intently on it. Now, with this goal I will strive to read at least one chapter of the Bible daily. Initially, I think that if I do this for one month without fail, I’ll say this is accomplished.

Team…what are your thoughts?

I've been thinking about this post...

for a while now. I didn’t want to give a rushed or non-thoughtful answer since this is one of my more serious goals. I agree that one must seek God first and be open to communication through his word. I also let it speak to me at times. But, I do want to read all of it, and that’s what my reading is focused on. There are so many things that I’ve missed by not doing so. And, I want to be able to learn even more from what I’ve not been able to cover yet. So, I think we’re on the same page…we’re just approaching it a little differently. Thanks for your encouragement! :D

I agree

I have learned to be honest with myself; I don’t set goals I know I won’t accomplish. While reading the entire bible is a goal I’d love to accomplish ONE DAY… it is not what I’m focused on. Because technically, you could read the entire bible as you would a book. Sit down, read through, get some knowledge and maybe some entertainment… but not truly see what lies deeper that God is wanting to show you. The word of God is SO deep that I could read one scripture and study that one scripture for days and get tons out of it. (I am actually embarking on a study that helps you do that).

I tend to get distracted easily, and I find it hard to discipline myself to get off the couch or computer and read. So I set goals that push me, but are not impossible. I found what goals work for me. Reading a certain amount everyday just didn’t work, cuz some days I don’t have time to even breathe. Then some days I have plenty of time to dig into the word… some days I feel more pressed to really read a lot, other days a scripture or two will fill me up.

It’s really a matter of listening to your spirit and finding out what works best for you. I believe God would be more pleased that you sat down for 10 minutes and truly received impartation, than if you had sat down every day and read a set amount of scriptures and gotten nothing. It’s not really about the amount, it’s about the quality!

She’s right, God knows where each of us is at, and will see your efforts and honor that!

I think that we're on the same page on this, too...

Reading the word for meaning and knowledge is very important to me. I do however realize I need to do more than I am. I feel that I should do this daily, and I am doing better to get myself there. I’ve rescheduled my time in the mornings instead of waiting until bedtime and that’s helped me tremendously. So, I am glad that he does know where each of us are and has patience. Thank you for your encouragement! :D
