keep my new years resolutions (read all 2 entries…)
Progress Report 6 months ago

1. Finish Year 13
Of course I’m going to finish it, but it’s a question of finishing it and leaving school with the results that i’ll be happy with. It’s going well but I need to study more.

2. Save $4000 by the end of 2008Done!
I completed this shortly after I wrote my resolutions but I’ve since increased the amount.

3. Secret Resolution
Still happening, but in a different way.

4. Plan my gap year
It will be spent working, saving money for university. I want to have a car by then and am also looking into some part time courses that i’m interested in.

5. Think about university
It’s looking more and more certain that i’m going to be studying computer science or software programming. I’ve also started narrowing down the universities i’m thinking of going to.

6. Don’t put down what I can awayDone!
I’m going to keep doing this though as it makes for a much tidier bedroom!

7. Help out more around the houseDone!
I’ve been doing the dishes a lot more for Mum and helping out more with the washing and other general housework.

8. Handwash delicate items of clothing
A matter of getting around to it, and not wrecking them in the wash.

9. Knit occasionally
Not happening yet, but it will do.

10.

11. Wash my woolen school jerseys seperately
I’ve been doing this but not regularly enough. It’s much better for them.

12. Spend less time on the internetHa! this is erm not going so well…

13. Work harder in Computer Class
Despite the time spent on the internet in computer class I am actually making some good progress with this :)

14. Continue drinking minimal milk
Occasional hot chocolate but going well generally :)

15. Get my restricted license
Getting there… I need some driving lessons and a bit more practice first.

16. Keep track of my spending and saving
I started well but have been slacking off a bit recently.

17. Change my sheets once a week
I’ve done this consistently so far, every week! :)

Thanks :P)

yep things are going pretty well :)

I am shaking my head

in awe. You seem so together compared to me when I was your age. You should be seriously proud of yourself! Not only have you got excellent taste in music (which I did have at your age) but wisdom too!!

I agree

Go Mae :D

:D

Thanks!

My friend and I made resolutions and were supposed to have ‘check-ups’ every 3 months (end of March, June, September and December) to see how they were going but I think she needs reminding… :)

Anyway, I thought i’d put them up here and then all of you can check up on me :)

Thank you! :)

Thanks for your comment, it means a lot to me :) I’m lucky to have an older sister who makes a very good role model when it comes to decision making about university. She had a gap year and i’ve been able to see how it benefitted her, also my parents are very supportive of the idea.

haha yes you do have excellent taste in music! :D and your comments show what a lovely person you are, thank you for all of your encouragement :)

I mean it:)

I was a particularly young Year 13 student (or as we called it back in the day 7th former) – I turned 16 that year and I really was very immature. I didn’t really eat that year and my main priorities were…not eating, exercising (mainly by playing sports) and listening to music I think. Also occasionally getting drunk and fawning over boys. The worst thing is that if I could turn back time I’m not sure what I would have done differently. I just wasn’t very academic at that stage of my life but I wasn’t ready to work either.

I’m a little young for a 7th former. I turn 17 next month which doesn’t sound too young but a month after I turn 17 some of my class start turning 18!

My main priorities are getting ready to move out. I don’t really know why, as I love my house and my family, but I really want to move out, go places, meet people…

I know someone who spent a period of their life focusing on not eating, though for them it was linked with more serious things.

Occasionally getting drunk and fawning over boys I can relate to. :) Although i’ve only been drunk once so it is rather occasional. I seem to be cursed with liking boys who never like me back. :/

In 5th form I was quite academically focused, getting a bit distracted in 6th form though and so now i’m trying to have a very focused final year of school. :)

I can relate

My birthday is in June & I turned 17 almost right in the middle of the year. My best friend that year was a repeating 7th former & so he was turning 19!!

Mindyy can't remember when the earth turned slowly.

Niceee job!

I am of course intrigued by the secret resolution… ;)

Those are really great resolutions. Glad you’re making progress!

Thanks!

ahh…secret resolution is secret for a reason. :)

Even though the ‘new year’ is long gone, I may end up adding a few more resolutions, or I may just add them as goals. :)

Milk

What is the problem about drink milk? I know it’s good for your bones, isn’t it?

Elusive Sleuth is glad that she's self-aware

I’ve stopped drinking it this year because it’s not good for my complexion :)

I’ve drank it all my life and have strong bones :)

It’s always great to see girls wondering in study things such as Computer and Calculus. Go ahead and welcome to the club :D

Elusive Sleuth is glad that she's self-aware

Thanks :)

Computing is fun, calculus is hard. :)

Calculus is really hard, but stills be some of my favorites classes on college. I study Electric Engeneering, so I took a lot of Calculus classes and still use it for other classes, such as Control, Eletromagnetism, Digital Eletronic…

What do you intend to study? Computer Systems or some Engeneering?

Elusive Sleuth is glad that she's self-aware

I’m looking at studying Computer Science, but I haven’t decided yet :)

Are you in the last year og high school?

Try to meet people who study and/or work with it. It’s great to see who they spend their days and see if it’s what you want to your own life some years in the future.
Of course, you have to see some practical details about it, such as salary and if it’s easy to find a good job.
Computer Science is a area you can search about other similar classes, such as Electric Engeneering, Computer Engeneering, Computer Network…

Good luck in your way! :)

Elusive Sleuth has gotten 7 cheers on this entry.
