Ok, I’ve got my computer, a guitar, a keyboard, and a USB audio interface, and some decent software. Now I just need the inspiration and motivation to write some more music.

There’s a couple of things I think are holding me back. One, I tend to believe all the good songs have already been written. Two, when I come up with an idea, it’s hard to make it become a full-fledged song. It’s like all my songs are “rough drafts” and need a whole lot of refining, restructuring, and reworking. This is especially difficult when I go and listen to professional songs that have been refined, mixed, and mastered to perfection. I think, “How did they think of that chord progression? And that beat is awesome.” Not that I can’t write some cool stuff, but it just gets frustrating at times.
