Day 6 -- The weekend is tough! 6 months ago

My last entry was on day 3. Days 4 and 5 were very easy. On day 3 I actually could smell food without having cravings to eat. That has been the case ever since. Days 4 and 5 were a breeze, actually. Plenty of energy, very productive, no cravings, lots of clarity, etc. I am consuming TONS of liquid…about 120oz plus per day.

However, the weekend has proven to be very difficult. My routine gets shaken up every weekend, I am probably not drinking as regularly as I do during the work week while I am in the office. Plus, we have guests in town and it’s hard to entertain when food and alcohol is not on your menu. I got really grumpy this afternoon. VERY grumpy. Kept asking myself why I was doing this, over and over, and could not come up with good reasons why. Except that I am doing it with my mother and do not want to be the one to fall off. Plus, I am determined not to disappoint myself. So I’ve stuck with it. Even though the pizza at Whole Foods today looked fantastic….and I don’t even like pizza! I keep thinking about what my first meal is going to be when I get off of this. So far, absolutly every thing I have thought of sounds wonderful….even a fried bologna sandwich! (?!?)

The first salt water flush I did on day 1 was very effective, but the ones since then have had no effect whatsoever. Nor does the smooth move tea, nor the psyllium (which I take daily.) I have not had a BM of any sorts in 3 days. A little concerned. I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, so I am used to not being regular and don’t really expect to have the same functions in that area as everyone else, but if anyone has any suggestions, I’d be appreciative.

yikes

That doesn’t sound good that you are not pooping- you are supposed to have 3-4/day… but maybe it is the IBS that is holding things up. Are you taking the whole SWF? (is it 2 tsp in 32 oz?) I do 1 tsp sea salt in 16 oz of warm water and it works fine (same dilution, just less fluid). I think the warm water really helps (when I use cold, the salt doesn’t dissolve, and it takes a lot longer).
And you also might want to try steeping the senna tea for longer (i.e. 10 minutes). I have heard of others taking a laxative instead of the tea (like dulcolax). Good luck!
