A tourist does touristy things, gets overcharged, stays at chain hotels, does tour groups surrounded with people like them, and does not immerse themselves in other cultures. A traveler goes off the beaten path, eats and drinks with the locals, knows local customs, speaks basic phrases in that language(please, thank you, excuse me, cheers, etc), trys to blend in more, trys local cuisines,and has a much more interesting take when they travel. I love traveling!
