make a duct tape wallet
duct tape keeps the world together 15 months ago

i must have made almost a dozen duct-tape wallets at this point. they’re so much fun to make, and they’re even better when you start getting creative with them.

i’ve also made a duct-tape stud belt and a duct-tape messenger bag, both of which were AWESOME and i wish i hadn’t so stupidly made for someone else. i keep thinking about making more and selling them, but i just haven’t found the time yet.

This belt is awesome! I have been looking for instructions on how to make it but have been unsuccessful. I bought my 7 year old duck tape for his birthday and he is fascinated by your belt and wants to attempt it so he can wear it to school. He is only 7 and has his own style with chuck taylor’s, ear pierced, and punk hats that he wears, and of course his studded belts. If you can offer some help or a website that helped you, it would rock. Thanks

Your son sounds like the raddest child in the world! My fiance and I aren’t ever planning to have children of our own but, MAN, if I knew I’d wind up with a son like yours, I’d soooooo have to reconsider my stance on becoming a mother. You must have a ton of fun with him, and it sounds like he’s so very lucky to have a parent who encourages him to be himself.

Anyway. I made that belt quite a few years ago now, so I’d have to dig up the progress pictures to really remember how I did it. But! I DO recall the belt being a fairly simple and quick project (the longest part was putting all the studs on, since that just dragged on FOREVER and I kept poking my fingers with the pointy clasps). I didn’t use any instructions: I just took apart an old belt (which also supplied the metal belt parts and studs) to figure out how the whole thing goes together.

I’ll tell you what, though: Drop me an e-mail (crisis.with.a.backbeat@gmail.com) and I’ll try to walk you through the construction process. Again, it IS a very easy thing to make, but I’d be more than happy to help in any way I can.

Thanks so, so much for your wonderful comment. You (and your son!) have totally made my day. <3 <3
