i have been planning on moving to nyc for quite a few years now… and i’m getting near moving time (summer 06) i’m getting all of my bills paid off, starting to buy things that i’ll need, etc etc… but now everyone is telling me that i won’t be able to afford it because i have no idea how expensive taxes and stuff are there. I’ve been there a couple of times and i’m clearly aware of the high cost of living, but i do know of a million places where things aren’t overpriced at all. i’ve done plenty of research these past few years; and the only thing i’m having trouble finding are about how much i’m going to be paying for water/heat/electricity. if anyone has any input about these things, b/c i know i’ll be spending around 800-1000ish for a studio apartment, that would be great. maybe anybody that is in search for a roommate this summer in nyc let me know as well! i’d prefer to live alone but hey if it’s gonna help out the payments i can compromise lol.

hey! i plan on going to nyc this spring. i don`t think my research is as expansive so i am no help at telling you the cost of new york heat and water. however i too want to rent a studio in the same price range. what are those things that you say you need to buy? is there supposed to be some special equipment to live in nyc? that scares me. as if the whole thing of getting out of a small shithole town and going to the largest city in the world is not scary enough. actually it is not the largest. tokyo is twice as populated-28 mln. people, new york-16. so shouldn`t be that scary!

haha thanks for the comment- i’m just getting a new bed, just working on things like the george foreman grill and stuff. i still live with the parents as of right now soo i need just a few living devices lol. but if things get pretty rough; i don’t NEED heat- i’ll have plenty of blankets!

Hey sweetie! Just reading threw your message and just to give you a heads up I live about 5 minutes from NYC and I think you are alittle off on thinking you will get a studio for 800-1000…NYC is VERY expensive. Studio’s probably start at more like 1500 and up…I know it sounds crazy but thats NYC. If you could get something for the price you are looking for I’m sure it would not be something you would want to live in or in a neighborhood you would want to live in.
