stop being embarrassed of my father. (read all 3 entries…)
No Poison 4 years ago

My cousin, Damon, told me that he stopped by to see my father after my brother died. He said that my father told him that his kids were all out to get him and that we had put poison in his food to try to kill him. I have never tried to poison anyone. I do bring my father hot lunches on occasion. He eats them when I am there, so I know he does not really think they are poisoned. He is just crazy. I have to stop caring. This did not really bother me too much because Damon is my cousin and already knows his history.

Christine loves bumbling around in Belgium

Hang in there...

I am so sorry, the first time I read it I had to burst out into laughter (of course it is not funny at all).
But that really, really does remind me of my father. He has become very bitter over the last few years. Actually I can’t remember him NOT having this bitter side… Anyhow, he isn’t paranoid like that, but he has been very ill and I think he believes that we would be all happy if he just died. When he accuses us of those terrible things, which are at the time very hurtful, because my mother and I love him very much of course… we can’t help but laugh about it afterwards.
It is just … too absurd.
If you have to deal with him closely much longer and if it still does hurt you, maybe you could call up a help line or read up on how to deal with the elderly with that condition.

me-ow. is all fired up

I have a relative, who I’d rather not name, who seems almost exactly like your father. He even has the same paranoia—he will often think the food we make him is poisoned or that others are staring in at him through his windows. While he can tolerate some members of the family, others he will not speak to and will blatantly insult, for no apparent reason.

Medication does help though, at least for him.

The hardest thing is knowing that there’s nothing you can do, really. Has your father been diagnosed with a mental disorder? Getting a doctor’s opinion is usually helpful, even if you’re against medication. At least it’s therapeutic.

Doctors...Yeah right

My dad thinks that all doctors are either communist or Jews…not sure what the Jewish people have ever done to him…but he hates them along with 99% of the population on earth.

He does not have an official diagnosis, everyone just knows he is crazy.

He is beyond help. It is a grin/scream and bear it situation.

Fathers & Daughters

I need to go see him. I have not been there in several months. He makes me so mad….aaaahhhhh. He is 78 now and losing his mind. He needs to be in a facility somewhere. He is so freaking mean, I don’t know if they would take him.

Cowles Clarissa has gotten 4 cheers on this entry.
