go to bed and go to sleep, instead of lying in bed for hours staring at the ceiling because my brain won’t stop
So relieved it's not just me...

Either I’m stressing about work to the point where I’m inventing problems that don’t exist, or a random song jumps in my head and won’t go away – at the moment it’s Run by Gnarls Barclay.

Then I wake up at least 4 times a night and panic that I won’t get back to sleep….......

I’m going to give exercising in the evening a go to see if that helps

Comments:

Oh man, been there.

Whatever it takes, get the sleep. Lack of it only seems to make it worse.

Exercise does indeed help, but not too late, it can rev you up and have the opposite effect.

One thing that works for me is setting a time for bed and sticking to it. Chill out an hour before, no TV, no coffee after noon, no sleeping with the music on. takes a bit but becomes a routine.

And it also helps to talk to someone about life’s stresses.

GL with it!

Hey thanks for the encouragement!

I made a start with exercising by speedwalking home from the train station instead of taking the bus. I felt like my lungs were going to burst! It’s light in the evenings now so there’s no excuse for me not to do it.

I didn’t have anything too heavy for supper and have yawned a couple of times so far….....

Yay!

Last night for the first time in months I slept without waking up once!

I had a frantic day at work so was probably too tired to worry about anything by the time my head hit the pillow…........

i can relate

i totally understand this, but the song was “the lion sleeps tonight”. nothing like wheem-oh-way-a-wheem-oh-way as the background music to all the worries. one thing i’ve started doing is reading positive, peaceful material, since it seems to at least make my eyes drowsy plus gives me something pleasant to think about while i drift off. there are some good nature cd’s out there too, like trickling water or rainforest sounds and that seems to help. one good thing, our bodies do win in the end, so no need to worry about it, it takes care of itself, and sometimes we just have to roll with it. i’ve heard that einstein supposedly catnapped his way through life for the most part, but i’m sure even he slept in when his body said, enough!

diamondka has gotten 2 cheers on this entry.
