It was harder than I thought but my entry was finally accepted. Oddly enough it was too short to improve my writing and too obscure for me to receive much recognition. I did gain a little social credit from the folks at work though.

writing for Wikipedia is tough
It’s easy to jump in and edit, but writing an entry from scratch is really hard, because most of the good topics already have entries and there are pretty stiff standards for what does and doesn’t need its own entry. Kudos on finding a gap in Wikipedia’s coverage and filling it! I hope your entry has a long and productive life full of contributions from all sorts of Wikipedians.
