Survive the changes at work (read all 7 entries…)
Not doing so well now 7 months ago

I’m going to go up to work today (Saturday) to organize all the papers on my desk, go through my e-mails and make a comprehensive to do list. I need to update the status on all my projects, too. Next week is going to be rough because we are interviewing people for a position, and that takes up a lot of time.

Other people seem to be able to take days off, be away from the office to take training, take vacations… I want that life again. I can’t even get everything done when I work every day.

I’m working with people on a resolution, but it’s not something that can happen overnight. For now, I’m depressed and stressed and doing the best I can. I guess that’s surviving, at least.

It’s tough to be important! ;-)

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

Thanks, Des

Maybe a candle at the end of the tunnel. I just have to see how the next few weeks go.

I Feel You

I am far too much of a distracted, disorganized control freak to get my work done in reasonable time frame. Either that or I’m just a workaholic. So I am itching to go into the office this weekend for a little peace of mind.

I need to delegate more, but I don’t like the work of the staff I have delegate to. problem.

Going in to work on Saturday was worth it

I had to do 2 hours of work that I shouldn’t have had to because other people didn’t do things up to my standards. That was work I hadn’t anticipated, so I didn’t actually get to do much of what I went in for. But I still feel good about it because if I hadn’t done it on Saturday, it would have taken 3-4 hours with people around (interruptions!).

My problem with delegating is that most of the things I can delegate are the things that make my job fun. I hate to delegate all the fun and be left with yuck work. :P

I’m not sure if you’re a workaholic or a perfectionist yearning for peace. It sounds like your more of the latter. :)

Gah, working on Saturday . .

Yes, you need a vay-cay!

Hopefully, this summer

I need to go see a capital or two. :)

ello is sorry she's been away!

Delegate! delegate!

Take care of yourself, Kim!

Thanks, ello

I’m having a nice day off work today. It’s a Texas holiday (San Jacinto Day), and one of the perks of working for state government is getting odd days off like this. :)

San Jacinto Day?!

God bless Texas. That is completely awesome.

Wayne is still under the weather

I hear you, Kim.

I’ve been there, and I hear you, although I am not currently a team leader/manager. Even now, on this special project, it seems like some people can take multiple weeks off on vacation, but I’m so busy, I feel guilty when I take only 1 day off on vacation leave.

I have to say, though that when our project leader took 2 weeks off earlier this month, he needed it. He had been working 7 days a week for several months and he needed a break.

I don't get it

I have a day of training on Tuesday next week, and I’m already trying to figure out how to keep my work moving. I’m either going to have to work late Monday night or let something very important wait until Wednesday. I wonder what other people would do. Probably let it wait and not worry.

I definitely need a break. I’m going to schedule a vacation pretty soon. I about busted out crying in a meeting today, and I know for sure my attitude was showing.

Wayne is still under the weather

Oh, you have attitude?

I hear you, Kim. Hoping that you do have the opportunity to take that needed vacation break. You sound so conscientious about work. Wishing that you get a chance to recharge so that you never lose that conscientious attitude. ;)

Vacation

Vacations are one of the things that keep me going in life. If you plan them in advance, the planning part is almost like a vacation, too, because it’s so fun to think about and a good distraction from the harder parts of life! Where do you think you’ll go?

Kim N has 9:58 to go on NaSoAlMo 2008

Arkansas

I want to drive up to Little Rock to see the capitol. I haven’t had the time or energy to do much planning, but I need to get started because it’ll be upon me before I know it!

Road Trip!!!
