stop eating meat (read all 2 entries…)
Fair well, chicken; Good-bye beef - I shall miss you, perhaps.. 7 months ago

I started up this goal early instead of waiting for the 10th cheer. I’ve been having trouble eating meat lately anyhow. I’m currently eating rice and black beans with salsa, I feel so much more refreshed now that I have the goal off my back.

I’ve felt a pull to stop eating meat for quite some time now, it was subconscious at first but it’s been becoming a much more obvious to the point that I can’t really deny it. Most of the time I didn’t because of the health problems that some people experience from this, but if I can go about this with caution and wisdom I should be fine.

I’ve talked to my mom and she’s been helping me. She was a vegetarian for a short time during the summer for a couple months with my dad. She said that it can be kind of expensive too; so I’ve been trying to be careful about keeping it to be an inexpensive but health diet.

I don’t generally drink a lot (or any) milk, so it’s not that I cut it out of my diet, I just didn’t drink it in the first place. I stopped drinking a lot of milk around 13 and at 15 I only drank it on occasions. I have no problem with milk made dairy products, I’ll still eat cheese and yogurt – for nutritional reasons mostly (due to my age and developing body). On the other hand I still can’t eat eggs.

I’ve been doing good – trying to make up for my protein that I won’t be getting from meat. I’ve been eating peanut butter sandwiches and mixing rice with different kinds of beans and oatmeal is also a good thing since it’s a grain. (I love oatmeal, it tastes delicious!)

I eat more frequently, as in three of four times a day rather than just in the evenings and chips and candy to hold me over until then. I’ve actually been taking time to make sure that I am eating a balanced diet, so I actually feel less fatigued at the end of the day. I’m slightly surprised at this but am generally pleased.

I don’t just eat salad and haven’t eaten any recently but I probably should because it’s also important to have greens and such in a daily diet.

Even though I’ve only stopped eating meat for three days I’m going to mark this goal as completed; though I may continue to blog on it for a reflective basis. Though, usually when I start something dietary I tend to still with it to some constancy without much trouble: (Unlike my essays goal which had become steadily more challenging)

Anyways, though I won’t label myself a vegetarian as part of my choice to abstain from labels you may call me one if you wish. Anyways, this goal is done for now, if I struggle with it later I will simply recycle it and try again or relent as the reason behind stopping would either be health related or due to lack of money which could lead to health problems if unrelented.

Comments:

quinoa is a complete protein. good luck.
