Finding a way to meet the neighbours... 20 months ago

I have a nagging feeling that growing one’s own food might become a trend very soon. And what better way to introduce oneself to new neighbours than with a basketful of freshly harvested veggies from your own garden!

I wish it was from MY garden :-(

But it isn’t. Not yet, anyway! Shall start planting in earnest in September (our spring). In the meantime, for all of you up North:

Happy Gardening!

I don’t think that the southern Queensland climate would be too different from that in South Africa. My parents have just installed some great vegie patches that are going really well. They have corn, beans, celery, cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumber, capsicum, beetroot, sweede and onions in at the moment. We are all really surprised at just how well it is doing. They are working by the rule that if you can find the seedlings in the shop then it’s the right time to plant! They have had the first crop of somethings, others have a way to go but we are loving it.
