The notion of gaining the metaphorical “gold star on the forehead” makes us all smile a bit inside. However I worked hard for years to accomplish this goal, only to find it wasn’t all that big of a deal. In my journey to make them proud, I found that they began to resent my accomplishments because they far surpassed their own life achievements. So in the end, all the work I did for them, really was for me. Use them as a guide, but use your heart as the true brass ring.
