Recommendation on blog service

Hey Joe, congrats on starting your wine blog. I will add you to my list of wine blogs I read regularly.

I was wondering if you could recommend 1 or 2 blog services that would be most useful in getting my own wine blog started.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Thad

Hi Thad,

I’ve linked to some other wine blogs in my opening post: http://gumption.typepad.com/wine/2005/03/hello_wine_worl.html.

My favorite wine site is not a blog: Wine Lover’s Page (http://www.wine-lovers-page.com/).

Please let me know when you accomplish your goal of starting a wine blog. I’m reminded of Guy Kawasaki’s comment in the opening of his book “Art of the Start”: “doing, not learning to do, is the essence of entrepreneurship”. Starting a blog is a small act of entrepreneurship (in my judgment), and I encourage you to “just do it”!

Joe.

Thanks Joe for the additional site recommendations.

I was actually asking which blogging service you would recommend. I noticed you use Typepad, but was curious if you could recommend other services to consider.

I appreciate it!

Oops

[One of my other goals is to “be mindful” - note that this one is not marked as “accomplished” yet :/]

I also considered Blogger and LiveJournal, both of which have free versions. At the time, I felt that TypePad had more features I would want (including moblogging … which I didn’t end up using all that much), and a more professional look & feel than either of the others. After a year, I’m happy with TypePad and have no intention to switch to a different service.

This probably isn’t all that much more helpful than my earlier reply, but at least it’s more on-topic :-).

Joe.

How about 'whine about blogs' instead?

There’s too many out there already, don’t you think?

typepad

Typepad is easy, well built, and if you want to do more advanced things in the future, it’s there for you. I started a wine blog with a friend, which gets updated far less often than we drink. http://www.winesublime.com/

blog au vin

This is a new blog set up as part of a wine site. You can reach the blog at http://blogauvin.finewinepress.com

You can register and set up your own blog-no need to configure any new service. No need to pay. It’s free.

Take a look
