Beat my depression (read all 3 entries…)
Sigh...Celexa Withdrawal

I’m generally a big fan of celexa b/c so far, it’s the only antidepressant that’s worked – that is, not given me horrible side effects, done nothing to lift my mood, or made be batshit manic.

But upon the advice of my docs, i went off of it ‘bout a month ago. What a mess!

I experienced crying fits, self-contained rages and seething irritability, major anxiety attacks.

With the new semester upon me and me going back to school after a break, i’m worried about coping, and i’m experiencing chronic, ridiculous anxiety. So, out comes the ol’ cognitive-behavioural therapy book, my bicycle, the SAD light…

Time to work hard at it again.

Comments:

Getting off meds is a really crappy time. Way to go for being determined to work hard for the new semester!

If I might ask, what cognitive-behavioural therapy book is this that you use?

CBT Book

at first i went to a course for people w/ mood disorders (courtesy of the canadian public healthcare system – god bless it!) It was called Changeways – i googled it, and they have a website where you can buy the program materials.
it’s designed for mental healthcare professionals who are conducting group therapy, but the text is pretty self-explanatory, so you could probably do it on your own.

The book that i picked up was “when panic attacks” by david burns;this is CBT to help w/ anxiety and panic. i can’t comment on if it works b/c i just picked it up.

thanks for the encouragement on starting a new semester :)
