One of my best friends from Library School is a maniac knitter. We all are envious of her. In the two years, she knit 4 sweaters, none of them for any of us (boo). But since then, I thought this skill was the coolest (unlike my being able to catalogue books in my sleep… booooring). When she visited last, we went to a yarn store and it was like this foreign land: English being spoken but all these words I had never heard before. It might have well been, say, Spanish (that other goal of mine!). So. Since then I have thought how neat it would be to be able to make myself a scarf—you know, start small and lean. Maybe a pair of socks? Mitts? Someday a cardigan?!

Crochette
My grandmother knows how to knit, but my mom only knew how to crochette. I learned how to crochette from mom, but haven’t done it in ages and couldn’t really do more than simple chains.
