Stone Mountain 14 months ago

The park was practically empty which is such a shame. I love it here. This is a photo of the relief sculpture that was carved into the side of the mountain. It is incredible,it is said to be the largest low relief sculpture in the world. There is an old train that takes you for a ride around the park with a guided tour and info about the preservation of the park. There are glass blowers and a foundry with a man forging horse shoes and rail road tacks. You can take a sky lift to the top of the mountain or hike up. DoubleN swimming to the golf classic this afternoon. :)

Oh

this sounds awesome – wish I could visit there; I’d love it. Glass blowing has fascinated me since childhood – I first saw it done as a small girl visiting Greenfield Village near Detroit.

And I so love your picture!

Thanks DN!

I am fascinated with glass blowing too. Even the pieces they were throwing out (to be recycled) were beautiful to me.

Happy Birthday Dear Friend

Even though you are reluctant to tell all your 43T Friends, just when it was.

I just wanted to wish YOU the very best on your special day!

I have been to Stone Mountain too and saw the 3th July laser-show before Peachtree race one year, great memories too.

Ah, Pete, you are a sly one!

You are right! The reason I never mention the date is bec. it is on memorial day weekend. No one ever remembers me and I have come to realize that I am a Christmas baby! But do not fret, I do lots of solo celebrating with little vacays and lots of chocolate.
Thanks hun!

Love Stone Mountain

Had season pass two years and went repeatedly. We’re hosting a French high school exchange student this summer for 3 weeks, and this is definitely one of our planned stops.

New Years 09

I will be going to a town south of Macon for New Years and plan to make a stop at Stone Mountain and Springer Mountain near Amicola Falls. I don’t know how crowded it will be at that time of year, I am hoping for a sparse crowd. Your picture of the wall (and hat) lol, is great and I can’t wait to see the park in person.

I think you’ll have a great time at the falls and at Stone Mtn. :)
