Josh and Anne lent me their coffee table for a spell and my new lamp arrived. It’s a knock-off (about 1/3 the cost), but I can’t tell the difference so I’m happy.

man, i love the simplicity and cleanliness of the design.
i’d just have those two chairs replaced perhaps. or perhaps make covers for them in some dramatic color (no pattern possibly).
lovely spacious area that makes me want to sit down and read a book or create something.
I saw Josh’s photo first and then your photo and thought, “Is the Noguchi table the official Robot table?”

my new lamp arrived.
It’s awesome, from the photo I wouldn’t have been able to tell that it was an Arco Floor lamp knock-off.
Your walls are missing art. ;-)
Robotable
That’s the very same table. I’m lucky that they’re letting me borrow it. Yeah, art or some such thing needs to go on the walls eventually. I’m phasing things in. Cut a brother some slack ;-)
If you can spot any appropriate art for the walls in LA let me know.
As for the Arco lamp, I went to pick up some lightbulbs today and took a good look at the original. I think the main savings in the knock-off is in the marble. The knock-off is more quartz-like with less defined marble veins. And the bevel on the edges is rounded as opposed to square. But I’m telling you it isn’t worth the extra $1,800—they both have their own appeal and the hardware is nearly identical.
Good eye, Viri.

hey daniel. how are you?!
the living room has spiffed-up quite nicely. I love the lamp addition. what are you going to do when you need to give the Noguchi table back to josh though? check out this artist to decorate your “minimalistic” walls. she’s fairly affordable and the pieces look beautiful in person. i think she has some work up at Habitude in fremont right now.
