become debt free (read all 6 entries…)
I have too much Debt... 4 years ago

I’ve been swampped in debt for years, the credit cards are maxed out and we (my family) hasn’t been on a Budget. Today I’m changing all that, I’m writing my family budget. I know it’s going to be tough, but it’s the only way we can survive, also I’m going stop using all credit cards, I was given a suggestion from a friend. Take all the credit cards, put into a plastic ziplock sandwitch bag, Place into a steel coffee can and fill with water, then place in freezer. To get to the cards, I will have to thaw out the can gradually (can’t boil because cards will get destroyed).

Commercial

there was a commercial awhile back on tv, with a woman who did that. She saw some ad on home shopping network and ran for the freezer trying to chip the ice away. Needless to say she failed and the item was gone before she even got close. It’s a good idea.

I personally took them out of my wallet and leave them in my apartment. Now since I use them so very little, they’ve disappeared under one of my many stacks of things. Yet another thing for me to find!

Good luck with this, you are making better progress then I am currently.

Have you looked into Dave Ramsey? His book Total Money Makeover is a real help in getting back on track and out of debt.
