It’s sad. Many people spend most of their waking hours either working or watching TV. The pleasure you can get from sitting around a board game with friends, family, or both is something they’ve either never experienced or view as a distant memory, something they discarded with the rest of their childhood things.
I love boardgames, card games, whatever. Some of my favorites are any game from Looney Labs (especially Fluxx, Icehouse and Aquarius), Settlers of Catan, and St. Petersburg, just to name a few.
Games are a great way to spend time with people you like while actively DOING something, engaging each other both socially and intillectually while you play.
Doesn’t get much better than that :)
