Joyfully Pray For Myself And Others (read all 88 entries…)
Jaw/Mouth Pain 19 months ago

Saturday when I woke up from my nap to catch up for not getting enough sleep the night before, my left lower jaw was hurting. As far as I know, I do not grind my teeth at night.

The only other time I really experienced real jaw pain was Jan’05, which resulted in a root canal while I was on vacation, which did not make that vacation a real vacation because of the pain I was experiencing and having to find a dentist to help me out of state.

I’m hoping that’s not the case here. The pain is not as bad as that time, but it’s still pretty painful. I took some Oragel and have been doing it every 3-4 hrs or so, which helps some, but not strong enough.

I do not have dental insurance, so if I remember correctly, the expense of it was around $2K, which is not money I have to do this. Please pray they can find the problem and fix it for not very much, and if it costs more than I can afford, that my dentist will work with me on payments that I can handle.

Well, I just checked my dental discount plan. It’s about $700 for a molar root canal and for the crown, it’s about the same. That’s still a lot of money for me.

My prayer here is:

1. That whatever is causing my jaw pain can be easily remedied inexpensively permanently.

2. If I’m requiring a root canal with a crown, that my dentist will work with me with payments that are affordable to me and that I can get all the money to pay for that quickly.

3. I can get an appointment today with the dentist that fits Sean’s & Hannalee’s schedules.

Today I went in and was a bit early for my dental appointment. They took me in right away.

The x-ray showed my tooth looked good, but my symptoms were disconcerting, so my dentist sent me to an endodontist who was able to take me in immediately because their patient prior to me came in early and that freed up time for me.

Coincidence?

The endodontist and his staff were superb and gave me great care, giving me all my options. He was basically in favor of extracting the tooth as the other 4 options were not favorable, but still leaving it up to me to decide.

I went back to my dentist who felt extraction was the best for me. This was the least expensive of all the choices and certainly won’t be much to anyone’s bottomline.

They said for it to have a fracture such as mine, I should’ve known what caused it, but I don’t.

I had done some things spiritually very impactful earlier in the week. The enemy has been wanting to quell my voice for God and my teeth have always been very good.

I believe it’s an attack of the enemy to cause this, as how this happened is baffling my dentist and the endodontist whom are both very experienced.

It’s pretty good when you have the endodontist and dentist admiring your teeth. I’m not saying that out of pride, rather humbleness.

Anyway, tomorrow I have that tooth extracted at noon. I’m still in pain right now, but a lot of Motrins, Oragel, and ice are helping alleviate some of it.

Please continue to pray. Thanks so much Ruth.

How great

that the two doctors agree! And I’m praying that the extraction goes well.

Went Well

Hi Ruth,

My extraction went well yesterday. Both of the doctors were exactly correct on what they assessed, and I’m so glad I trusted them.

About 16 hrs later, I’m feeling much better. Thank you for caring and praying.

Bless you abundantly,
Doris

So glad to hear it

Your posts & comments today have a lighter, cheerier tone too. :-)

DarkDog is surprised December is here.

Glad to hear

you feel much better already. Even the sound of the word “extraction” brings nightmares to me, so I’m glad this goes well for you.

New Isabella is wishing you a Merry Christmas and/or a happy holiday...

Dear Doris,...

I’ll be glad to pray over your dental problems, and over your paperwork procrastination issue as well. I can easily identify with both things. I’ve got a wisdom tooth that flares up from time to time, and no dental insurance. (I wish that it’s simply that I’m growing in wisdom as I go through life, but I think it has more to do with trapped food particles and gum inflamation.) I’ve also got my own paperwork procrastination issues. I’ll joyfully pray for both of us.

Love & ((((hugs))))
Isabella

Good luck Doris!

Thank You

I appreciate it Flutter.

The sleep has been impeded by the pain in my jaw.

HOWEVER, today I got the tooth extracted. It took them 5 shots of numbing stuff. Mouth is so very numb now 4 hrs later. They said it’ll be numb for about 8 hrs.

They gave me some vicadin or something like that for the pain. No pain yet. A lot more bleeding than they thought.

The tooth that came out was simply beautiful, but it did have this long hairline crack down the middle exactly where they said.

They made the right call. I should be okay shortly. Very tired now. Going to take a late afternoon nap.
