LL has a Matty!

Apply for an Aussie spousal visa (read all 4 entries…)

Response from the lawyer.  — 2 months ago

She’s already sent the certificate. On April 11th, apparently. It should already be here.

But it’s not. So, where is it?

She included a ‘bill number’, but did not say which company she used. I tried it on the USPS site, and that letter was sent from Costa Rica on April 15th. To Brooklyn, NY. Anybody ever recall that either Matty or myself had moved to Brooklyn? I sure don’t. Either she’s given me the wrong number… or sent our certificate to a complete stranger.

::sighs::

I’ve almost reached the point of it not being quite so funny anymore.

Almost.

Good thing I have happy thoughts to distract me today!

Comments:

typical

the NY post office is SO BAD that they screw things up even when things aren’t intended to be going to them!!

There must be a mail screw-up quota the post office must meet.

They’ve lost SEVERAL things of mine I’ve purchased and never received and have to go tracking down.

Anyway…it will come, patience my dear :)

(My Bachelor’s from Columbia took over six months to get here!)

I suspect...

it’s not so much a postal screw-up, as it is a lawyer screw-up. I mean, Matty’s in WA, so it shouldn’t have gone anywhere near NY, right? (Unless there’s some part to the process of which I’m unaware. Probability = high.)

Thanks, Chewie. :-) I do believe it’ll turn up… I’m just not sure how much jumping up and down I’m going to have to do before it does.

hahah!

in my experience, LL, the jumping up and down does nothing at all. So you might as well save your jumping up and down muscles.

I just love that Columbia still keeps calling me every few months to tell me that my degree came back to them.

Duh, they sent out THREE because they took so long, I thought they were lost.

At least one showed up.

Can they send a duplicate?
:)

Hmm.

Perhaps this lawyer got her degree at Columbia. ;-)

She’d better send something. Not just any something… a something we can use, that the visa people will be happy to accept. I think I’ll ask her to email a copy as well, so that we can at least check it all reads correctly.

for your sake

I hope she didn’t go to Columbia!

Maybe if they could fax the visa people directly?

Get the visa office to give you a fax number that would at least buy you some time or something…just until the original finally shows up.

Worth asking, maybe.
That’s the angle I’d play.

Good luck to you both!
Hugs!

Any news?

Have you heard anything more from the lawyer, re: why did she send your certificate to NY?

LL has a Matty!

Pffft. Nope. Not yet.

I’m trying to keep in mind that there is a time difference, it’s the weekend, and there may be some translating going on. If I haven’t heard anything by Tuesday, I’ll email again.

The next step will be to email the people through whom the lawyer was arranged. Hopefully that won’t be necessary. We still have plenty of time, but I don’t want to leave it until we are out of time.

LL has gotten 7 cheers on this entry.
