I’m a penpal, and we swap what are called “Friendship Books” or FB’s for short, and in those you add your name and address details and something about you usually your age, likes and countries you want pals from.

So do you want me to make you some FB’s to get you started? and then I’ll send them out to my pals and get them into the system. I will also be your pal if you are interested in someone from Australia?

Normally you’d add
Name, Address, birth date or just year (some pals look for “birthday twins” so they add their whole birthdate) and if you want specific countries you’ll add that info and then a short bit about you eg: I put in stuff like SAHM (stay at home Mum) of 5, (some pals will only write to other mother’s for fear of boring people without children) I also add that I am married (Beause I don’t normally pal with men, although I do have two male pals but my husband is fine with that and often adds comments to them!) I also add something about my hobbies so that you can find pals with interests similar to yours. So I’d say Likes: gardening, penpalling, arts and crafts, books. Also if you want to swap you can add: Swaps: postcards, stamps, stationary and FB’s.

I’d be happy to make you some FB’s to get you started and once the FB’s have been filled up by pals, the last entry will forward it back to the owner (YOU!) and you’ll have like a little book full of ovrseas potential pals. Oh and they can also be made if you want to stay within your own country so you’ll add “for US or Australia (or whatever country) ONLY”

Some of these little FB’s (they are small enough to fit into regular sized envelopes), but some of them are really works of art, decorated with glitter, markers, stickers etc etc.

I’ve started on your FB’s, I’ll make a series of four, and send you one and the other three I’ll disperse to all parts of the world.

If things go well I may have a penfriend in Scotland and if that comes through I’ll try definately to hook your up… trouble is all my pals are my age (40) or older, so I’ll put that you want some closer to your own age, say 20-40? or drop me a note here and let me know how you feel about the age thing ok?
Also one more question… do you want me to say you swap anything? like stamps, postcards etc etc?
Or do you have collections like postcards? keyrings? bookmarks? anything like that?

Alot of o/seas pals like to swap stamps, for obvious reasons, they’re all different and they don’t cost much to post, so let me know, I’ve got heaps of doubles from my sons X2, albums.
